Technology Platform of the European Forest-Based Sector (FTP)

The European Confederation of Woodworking Industries (CEI-Bois), The Confederation of European Forest Owners (CEPF) and the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) have set up a project to establish a Technology Platform for the forest-based sector.

This project aims at establishing and implementing the sector€s R&D roadmap for the future and is supported by a wide range of different stakeholders.

The Forest-based sector technology platform is an industry-driven process, embedded in industry reality, and supporting the sector€s strategy.

A High-Level Group (HLG) is the decision body of the project and steers the activities of the platform, this includes industrial memebers and observers from the European Commission (DG Research and DG Enterprise and Industry). is involved in the HLG as an observer.

A Project Group (PG) (Project Management) has been appointed by the HLG comprising a Project Director and a Platform Secretariat. The PG is responsible for monitoring the day-to-day development and operation of the platform.

The HLG has appointed an Advisory Committee (AC) having an advisory role. The AC presently comprises R&D/ technical directors and federation representatives from core stakeholders as well as representation from National Support Groups.

National Support Groups (NSG) are set up serving as communication channels and typically comprise representatives of the forest-based sector, including research, representatives of national financing and governmental bodies. All EU countries are invited to set up NSGs.

A Scientific Council (SC) serves the important task of representing the research society at large in the development and implementation of the platform. It plays a key role in establishing the Strategic Research Agenda.

A Communication group aims to generally promote the awareness of the platform and to operate with daily activities concerning FTP€s communication as a whole.
