ITABIA is a non-profit Association established in 1985 with the aim of promoting the diffusion of efficient
and environmentally-sound biomass production and conversion systems for energy and industrial purposes.
The term biomass includes both cultivated and residual vegetable materials, as well as municipal and industrial
organic wastes. Scientists, technicians, scientific institutions, public bodies and corporations with special interest
in the biomass sector, from both technical and non-technical points of view are, or can become members of ITABIA.
ACTIVITIES
- Promotes: the knowledgeand the diffusion of technologies
relating to the production, harvesting, treatment and conversion of cultivated biomass, as well as of waste
material, for different end-uses including the limitation of air and water pollution, land protection and safeguard of
human health.
- Proposes:strategies and national plans
- Organises: national and international conferences, meetings, specialised workshops, study
tours, visits to installations
- Co-ordinates: national teams and international networks
- Works out: Studies, researches, experimental trials
- Publishes: proceedings of conferences and workshops, members' papers on specialised
scientific journals and a periodic newsletter: ITABIANET
