"Biomass" includes all renewable vegetable and animal matter that can be used in industry (fibre, chemicals) or energy production (heat, fuel).

The basic aim of the European Biomass Association is to promote biomass production and applications throughout Europe.

To achieve this objective, the AEBIOM

• develops and publicises global solutions to boost biomass production
• coordinates international initiatives
• provides direct or indirect assistance in setting up national associations
• liases with European authorities (European Commission, European Parliament, Economic and Social Council)
• Organises seminars and conferences and information and awareness campaigns
• undertakes studies and encourages experience sharing
• promotes the transfer of appropriate technologies to developing countries.
