IEA Task 36 : Energy Recovery from Municipal Solid Waste |
In October 2003, the Executive Committee of IEA Bioenergy approved a three-year work programme on Energy Recovery from Municipal Solid Waste - referred to as Task 36 (2004-2006). The Task objectives include the maintenance of a network of participating countries as a forum for information exchange and dissemination.
The participating countries in this Task are Australia, Canada, the EC, France, Finland, Japan, Sweden, Norway and the United Kingdom.
Whilst the focus of the work programme will be directly linked to energy and environmental consideration of solid waste management, the work programme includes the wider issues of policy, regulation and legislation, which govern waste management. The principal areas of work have developed after consultation with the current Task members. Seven topics will be undertaken during the course of the project and will result in a stand-alone report on that subject (reports to be released as completed). The Topic reports will be compiled into a single report containing an overview chapter to be released at the End of Task meeting.
