National Activities - Germany

The German Union for the Promotion of Oil and Protein Plants was formed in 1990 by
the German farmer's association (DBV) and the Federal association of German plant breeders
(BDP). It is open to production, processing and marketing enterprises, federations and institutions
involved in domestic oil and protein plants.
Since its formation the UFOP has developed numerous ideas for the optimization of agricultural
production as well as for sales promotion including aspects of non-food use and the production of
biodiesel, promoting the product under the concept of sustainable raw materials.
The work of the UFOP is divided into four areas:
- Political protection of interests in national and international committees
- Optimization of agricultural production by research
- Development of new possibilities for utilization
- Promotion of all products generated from domestic oil and protein plants
The list of the UFOP members shows the unique inter-professional nature of the organisation.
