The European Bioethanol Fuel Association was formed in May 2005 to support and promote the activities of companies producing ethanol for fuel use in Europe.

This includes those companies that are at present producing bioethanol fuel within the European Union or countries that have applied for EU membership. Companies that will start producing bioethanol fuel within a period of 18 months after having requested for membership can also become Producing Member. All other bioethanol fuel stakeholders can apply for associated membership.

A Board of Directors is formed by representatives of the Producing Member companies. It meets several times per year and is responsible for policymaking. Once a year there is a General Assembly meeting at which all Producing Members and Associate Members are represented.
