Pro-Bio

• was set up to ensure that the benefits of biocatalysis are available to manufacturing industry (chemical, pharmaceutical, food & drink, paper & textile).
• the aim is to co-ordinate all of the UK€s biocatalysis research and to help industry to install viable biocatalytic processes.
• offers technical advice, funding/financial advice and training to its members.
• meets the current challenge of integrating rapid developments in biosciences with the necessary equipment and process advances, to implement biocatalytic manufacturing processes on a wider scale than exists today.

Membership is open to all UK industrial and academic institutions.

The core of Pro-Bio are the research bases of University of Manchester, University of Edinburgh, University of York, and UCL, together with the Research Technical Organisations of C-Tech Innovation and BHR Solutions.

Pro-Bio interacts with other organisations such as regional development agencies, trade associations, and any other relevant organisations, so that support can be exchanged. This will be a two way mechanism allowing Pro-Bio members benefit from workshops and seminars provided by these organisations.

Pro-Bio functions via interaction of the four groups listed above. C-Tech Innovation, as the central organisation, will coordinate the partnership, providing newsletters, Technology Translation along with BHR, and any information regarding proposals, training courses, CASE info. etc. The Partnership will seek to match individual industry requirements with an appropriate research institution, and provide the support necessary in order to promote effective research that meets the requirement set out.
