Intelligent Energy - Europe Programme (IEE) |
Intelligent Energy - Europe is an EU programme for the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. It aims to help to produce and use energy in more intelligent ways and to increase the use of renewables.
Running 2003-2006, it was adopted by the Council on 26 June 2003. It entered into force in July 2003. With a total budget of €250 million, Intelligent Energy - Europe supports four types of activities, usually covering up to 50% of the costs:
The programme currently supports more than 200 international projects and over 30 local/regional energy management agencies. It has supported around 30 European events.
The funding is provided through four sub-programmes:
Since 2005, the programme is implemented by the new Intelligent Energy Executive Agency (IEEA).
