Intelligent Energy - Europe Programme (IEE) |
"Intelligent Energy for Europe" aims to implement the course of action outlined in the Commission's Energy - Security of Supply Green Paper of November 2000. It aims to strengthen security of supply, produce actions that can mitigate possible climate change that may be linked to increased use of fossil fuels, and stimulate the competitiveness of European industry.
The programme will provide financial support to local, regional and national initiatives in the fields of renewable energies, energy efficiency, energy aspects of transport and their international promotion. The Commission proposed an overall budget of 215 million € to be used between 2003-2006. This compares with the previous Energy Framework Programme (1998-2002) that was allocated an overall budget of 175 million €.
