High capacity flexible handling robot for hardwood parquet and lamella
Objectives
Technical Approach
In an attempt to overcome problems linked to human sorting in the short wood industry (parquetry, laminated boards), efforts are being made to develop a new type of scanner system that is based upon computer handling of the scanned pictures coupled with subsequent computer-controlled sorting criteria. A new scanner system is necessary, as the present scanner system does not function quickly enough. In addition the handling should be resolved by a stacking system using the computer scanning and thereafter automatically stacking the material in the relevant quality stack at a rate of up to 10 items per second for pieces of wood of 200 mm in length or more. For comparison, it can be stated that the market is currently in a position to be able to stack a maximum of 3 items/second of the same category.
