Development from cyclodextrin derivatives to polymeric materials for selective transport, separation and detection of active substances (utilisation of CDX)
Objectives
Technical Approach
Despite a large number of scientific investigations only a few applications for cyclodextrins exist. The goal of the proposed research is to develop the basis for new applications of cyclodextrins from readily available functional cyclodextrin derivatives and polymers. It comprises application fields like wastewater decontamination, drug formulation, separation of enantiomers and sensor devices.
Expected Results
I. Direct Results
Realisation of the following applications of cyclodextrins by the development of the synthesis of new monomeric and polymeric cyclodextrin derivatives:
II. Indirect Results
These improvements will be achieved by the close co-operation of an international research team comprising organic chemists, polymeric chemists, pharmacologists, physicochemists and chemists from industry.
Application
The obtained results will be useful for producers of cyclodextrins and pharmaceutical industry. Also it might help small and medium enterprises to produce specialised high value products.
