General Information
FAIR Programme |
FAIR: |
FAIR is a continuation of the previous AIR activity of the Third Framework. The objectives are to promote and harmonise research in the major European primary production food and non-food sectors of agriculture, horticulture, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture, and its links with industry, rural activities, the end user and the consumer.
The first call for proposals, which closed on 15 March 1995, attracted 937 applications for funding of which 82 were concerted actions. Around 100 MECUs EC funding is available for this call. Funding of 148 MECUs was requested for the 120 proposals rated A or A+. Funding of 361 MECUs was requested for the 304 proposals rated B or B+. Projects began in December 1995.
The green chemical, polymers, fibre and other non-food production chains that fall under areas 1 and 2 are managed by DG XII. In addition there are a number of projects, the results of which may be of relevance to non-food activities, managed by DG VI (Agriculture).
