The nature of this publication is explained in the introduction, as follows: This publication contains the synopses of a range of co-operative research projects relevant to agricultural, agro-industrial and fisheries research that are selected and funded under the FAIR programme. In all it lists over 100 projects. However, these cover all areas funded under FAIR. The introduction is followed by a statistical section that deals with: Project participants by country Project coordinators by country SMEs by country RTD performers by country

The individual projects are then listed and described (one or two pages per project), each one supported by a relevant (generally artistic, rather than scientific) photograph. The projects listed include the following funded within the various CHAINS that included non-food activities (note: this is designed for the non-specialist, so the projects have been given 'journalistic titles', rather than being identified in the index by their contract number and/or full title as submitted. However, this information is provided within the text. Reports, including summaries, progress reports and final reports from these projects have been or will be (when available) added to the website.
