Contract No: QLK5-1999-1229
Project Type: RS (Research and Technological Development Project)
Start Date: 01-03-2000
Duration: 36 months
Total Cost: 930,000 EUR
EC Contribution: 930,000 EUR
Scientific Officer: Pierre VAN ASBROECK

Abstract:

Riparian forests are non-marketed natural resources offering: habitats for plants and animals, flood retention and recreational areas. Sustainable, multifunctional management of riparian forests needs improved knowledge on the interaction of hydraulic, sedimentological and ecological processes involved. The interactions will be studied by field investigations, laboratory experiments and numerical modelling on different scales. Management guidelines for riparian forests are sought as output from the project.
