Biomass fired CHP plant based on Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) - Project "ORC - STIA Admont"
Objectives
The aim is to construct a CHP plant based on the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC - first biomass demonstration in the EU), capacity 400 kWe, 2.25 MWth to provide process and space heat for a factory and monastery. The fuel will be sawdust, burned in a thermal oil boiler. Dust emissions will be controlled using a rotational particle separator. NOx reduction will be assisted by glue water injection into secondary combustion chamber. Operating hours at nominal capacity are 7,200 h/a. Nominal investment 7590 ECU/kWe, 1350 ECU/kWth.
