  • Identify barriers and find solutions for their removal.

The long-term objectives are:

  • To increase the use of biogas as renewable energy source in the EU and candidate countries by means of combined heat and power production and/or as vehicle fuel.

In phase one (12 months) one European biogas seminar & workshop report, one training manual, four training reports and one biogas leaflet in the languages of the main target groups will be produced. The Biogas seminar will include workshops, mini seminars, a business forum and study tour in Austria in September 2002. Other training activities were planned as Four Biogas Mini Training Actions (Mini Seminar, Workshop, Study Tour) in August, September, October and November 2002.

Phase II, which covers the second 12 months to the end of 2004, will produce one workshop (in Denmark in June 2004), four training reports and one interim report. The Danish programme includes Workshops, Mini Seminar, Business Forum and Study Tour. A further four Mini Training Actions (Mini Seminar, Workshop, Study Tour), will also be held, again in August, September, October and November.

Phase III (from 01.01.2004 to 31.12. 2004) again has a similar structure.

Each phase will produce one workshop report and four training reports in addition to the final report. Expected results include

  • Production of training materials.
  • Production of learning materials: flyer, brochure in the languages of the target groups.
  • Production of three biogas event reports.
  • Production of an interim report and a final report.
  • Web dissemination of the outcomes of the project via the homepages of those involved.
