| Common Name | BUGLOSS |
| Latin binomial | Echium vulgare |
| Plant family | Boraginaceae |
| Names in other languages | viperine vulgaire (F), natternkopf (D), viperina comun (E) |

Bugloss is related to borage, and is familiar in some areas as a wild plant with deep blue flowers; it has been developed to some extent as an ornamental, with a range of flower colour embracing white, pink and blue. Plants are broadly similar to borage in habit, but with smaller leaves, and with the flowers growing closely together at the upper ends of the stems. The seed oil of this species is also under investigation for possible applications in nutrition, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
