Environmentally Safe, Integrated Systems for the Control of the Mediterranean Fruit Fly Ceratitis Capitata (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Tephritidae)

General Information
To develop environmentally safe integrated control system(s) against the Mediterranean fruit fly Ceratitis capitata, the most destructive fruit fly of southern EC countries. The control system will be initiated by mass lure and kill or trapping and/or restricted ground bait spraying on artificial surfaces. This will be complemented by successive massive releases of sterilized males from suitable genetic sexing strains.
